To the New York Post “Editors,”
To put it quite mildly, Sean Delonas's cartoon in yesterday's New York Post newspaper is cause to vomit on several fronts. It maintains the views of many in this country and around the world of the United States as being on the level of scum. Just when the country can feel real pride over electing its first African American President, of breaking a major racial barrier after such a long history of deliberate carnage and defilement of certain Americans and others throughout the world, we have to deal with backward little misfits like Delonas, the New York Post owners and “Editors,” other right-wing psychopaths and many hate-filled Republicans as well.
Not only is this piece of trash a racist statement, it is also a testament to how much these characters must hate our new President that they would want to see him assassinated and, by the “protectors” of our streets, indeed by the establishment; the police no less! And no, these are not irrational leaps. They are logical conclusions based on this demented scribble. Have these guys ever heard of the subconscious? If Freud and his “subconscious” are good enough for the university text books and the consumption of millions of students, they are good enough to be applied here.
Delonas has the gall to call this thing a cartoon. True cartoonists, artists around the country and the world should be outraged to think this guy counts himself among their ranks. Animal rights activists should also be appalled. Our human hubris; what we can't control nor understand we simply kill. Truly it is just another form of prejudice.
While protesting the “Post” is a good thing, sadly it will hardly impact the paper or its owners. Some other actions need to be taken to, in effect, cripple this type of blatantly unscrupulous behavior by some toward other human beings and, for that matter, other forms of life. In this case, as Mr. Al Sharpton has expressed, somehow trying to get the Federal Trade Commission to revoke Rupert Murdoch’s special waiver to own several media outlets in the same city; New York, may be a start.
However, this kind of selfish and unethical behavior is a wider problem in this Country, as one can see by the shameful conduct of the Republican Party and other rightwing cronies; human beings who have no consideration nor goodwill for anyone who disagree with them in the least, who do not consider the rights of other life forms simply because they are different, somehow controllable and expendable, who do not care about even the Earth’s health itself because they see it only as something to use and discard; these “people” who believe themselves above reproach and simply correct, these sorts may never understand that to think we “know it all,” is to act aimlessly and eventually to destroy even our own selves.
